A gastronomic monument; the Pâtisserie Pierre Hermé
Gourmets gather to pay homage to the king of pastry chefs Pierre Hermé, who has opened a new patisserie in Saint Germain des Prés. Here his subjects can embark on a sensory journey through a universe of flavours and sweet sensations lovingly created by this masterful heir to four generations of pastry making tradition. This Picasso of pâtisserie is often asked where and how his ideas originate. "Gourmandise, pleasure, encounters, fragrances, textures" he replies. Passionate about design and architecture, Pierre Hermé is curious about everything and everything inspires him. Born into a family of bakers in the Alsace region, he apprenticed with Gaston Lenôtre at the age of 14 before joining Fauchon a few years later, acquiring a reputation for fine work and a sense of detail. World famous for his uniquely individualistic macarons, notably the famous Ispahan, with its rose macaron biscuit, rose petal cream, whole raspberries and litchis, Pierre Hermé imagines his creations like Haute Couture collections. This is Haute Pâtisserie!
