Bear Species, an exhibition to bring you out of your den
Everyone has their own particular favourite of the eight bear species that share the planet with us. The polar bear, brown bear, giant panda and the cute little spectacled bear all have their fans! This winter the bear comes out of its den and invades the Grande Galerie de l'Evolution for an incredible exhibition that pays tribute to all the ursidae. Twenty-five specimens, twenty-two of them from the collections of the National Museum of Natural History, three complete bear skeletons and numerous osteological artefacts tell us of the origins of bears, their relationship to Man and the threats to their future. The fate of these beautiful animals, which have become a part of the collective imagination, is in our hands. To mark the exhibition, a series of photographs by Vincent Munier devoted to this emblematic animal is displayed on the gates of the Botanical School of the Jardin des Plantes. An exhibition that deserves a big bear hug!
