Hugo; a Family of Artists, at the Maison de Victor Hugo
In the Place des Vosges you can explore the former home of the writer Victor Hugo just as you would explore his stories. With passion! The antechamber, red room, Chinese room, dining room, sitting room, work room and bedroom have all been painstakingly recreated to be as faithful as possible to how they looked during the writer’s time there, so that the presence of this family of artists is almost palpable. Furniture, artefacts and works of art that belonged to the author, or that he himself created, reveal little-known facets of Victor Hugo. Temporary exhibitions such as the current Hugo; a Family of Artists shed further light on a remarkable life. Here you can see the artistic creations of Hugo himself, as well as those of his hugely talented family. JR.
