Under the Sky; a stunning installation not to be missed at Bon Marché Rive Gauche
An astonishing installation by the Argentinian visual artist and illusionist Leandro Erlich can currently be seen at Bon Marché Rive Gauche. Sous le ciel (Under the Sky) is a tribute to the famous sky of Paris, with its particular luminosity, its soft colours and the way it changes throughout the day and the seasons. This romance is composed in shop windows where light and fluffy forms float suspended like real clouds. Inside the store, the race of nimbus and cumulus continues to quicken hearts at the top of the central canopy. And, as though arising from a fantastic tale, the famous central escalator leads customers to a place where dreams and reality merge in the glorious confusion of a trompe-l’œil. You’ll find yourself humming the song by Edith Piaf that inspired the name of the installation even as you ponder the way this work of art challenges your perceptions of reality.
